motor temp?

93 3/4 ton with auto. have done some upgrades, big exhaust and intake, pump turned up etc. seems to run easily to 200 to 210 with just a 25 ft fifth trailer in very small hills. i think this is a little high. i know the rad is good had it redone. any ideas?

Imo, 210 towing a loaded 25ft trailer over small hills is not high at all, even with OD off.

A good freind had the same problem. He is towing a mobile slaughter trailer that weighs just over 5000 lbs empty and about 6500 lbs loaded. We attacked the problem piece meal - thermostat - radiator cap - coolant level etc. He tows quite a few back country roads with some steep grades and roller coaster ups and downs. Since I run a Horton electronic fan and my old OEM fan was still good we swaped my OEM fan to his '93 - end of problem.

To get it much cooler I think you'll need a 5 speed or 47RH swap. The engine coolant pulls most of the heat out of the transmission fluid.

If your water isn't too hard you could rig a spray bar for when it gets warm.

These only came with what, a 180 degree t-stat?
