Can you turn down the ve pump too low

Can you turn down the ve pump too low

I lost track of the turn on my fuel screw when I put my extra long fuel screw in. Btw best thing I've bought. So I'm trying to get back to 20+ mpg and I turned down my pump alot and didn't know if anything bad can happen if its running really lean. Thanks for the info

It won't run lean (technically, all diesels run lean often with over 100% excess air) and cause issues like a gasser.

In the case of the VE, turning it too low will result in not enough fuel to support operation. The engine will simply stop running.

So I can turn the pump down til it won't run then turn it up til it's passed just running then adjust the idler screw accordingly and it will be ok just trying to get back my mpg

At the end of the day, you can do the same thing with your foot. Just don't mash as hard.

Leave it set for power and get a fuel pressure gauge. Watch the gauge as you drive and you will be able to see when you're wasting fuel. I can still get 22mpgs if i watch my gauge.

Where and how should a fuel pressure gauge be installed in order to monitor use and waste like that?

Just saw a top quality fuel pressure gauge super cheap yesterday and wondered about how it would be used. I try to judge with foot pressure but often find I was pushing harder on the pedal than I thought.

Plumb it between the lift pump and injector pump. There's a banjo bolt for the second-gen trucks that has a port in the end that can be used, but I'm not sure just where it goes. And I'm confident in saying that if you back the fuel off too far on any diesel it will just stop running.

Ok I have an isspro EV2 fuel pressure gauge I just don't know where to pit the sending unit. I drive 60-65mph on the highway. I do live in the country so there's and some stopping and going and hills. But I'll try the pressure gauge thing but what am I looking for to know when I'm wasting fuel or not

I try to keep the gauge from moving as much as possible. If it pulls down then you are burning more fuel.

That fitting you speak of replaces the banjo bolt that attaches the line to the filter head. It's the line that runs from the filter to the actual ip.
