Melting a/c fuse.

Hey y'all, My truck is melting the AC fuse. It's a 30A fuse thats in there and the plastic is almost melted off the metal in the fuse and it's starting to melt my fuse box. Any ideas why it's drawing so much power that it's melting the fuse? Also I was wondering. Where is the water temp sending unit on these cummins motors? I want to put an after-market temp gauge on my truck so that I can get a better idea on how hot it gets when i'm towing.Thank's Mike

Water temp sending unit is on the drivers side of the block right next to the firewall. Its kinda hidden.

Thumbs down Don't Buy El-cheapo Fuses

I am going to venture an educated guess and say that you have got ahold of some of those el-cheapo fuses.

I learned my lesson, when I bought a big plastic boxed assortment of around 600 fuses for $4.99.

Nothing, short of a lightening strike, will shoot these fuses.

They are made of an inferior conductor, that creates current resistance, therefore creating heat that eventually melts the fuse's plastic housing, like candle-wax, and melts the surrounding plastic of the fuse-box.

After this lesson, I demand BUSS brand fuses.

I have read that LITTEL is also a good brand; but, I know that BUSS are good.

I bet that, if you replace all your fuses with BUSS brand, of the proper amperage, the problem will fix itself.
