Macpherson Coil Spring Tool
HAs anybody used this tool? How well does this work? I am thinking about getting one in order to make the coil spring change out easier and wanted to know if anybody has any info on it?
This is the info I got off the internet.

Repair Macpherson struts on or off the vehicle
Works on struts with springs up to 7" diameter
Perfect for body shops, specialty shops, tire shops, dealerships, independent garages and service stations
Max opening: 8"
Lead screw torque: 15 Ft. lbs.

No I haven't used one of them. I would NOT use one on these trucks unless it is rated for these springs. I changed mine using the info I found in the sticky detailing how to change the springs.....if the info is not in the sticky it is somewhere on DTR.
Good luck

That would be an unneeded tool. You'll find that there isn't much load still on the spring when the suspension is fully extended. You raise the front end, take the rotor off, stick a floor jack or similar preloading the lower control arm a slight bit, then pop the lower BJ off, and slowly lower the LCA with the floor jack. The spring falls right out. The installation is the reverse of removal. I've done both sides on my d250 2 times, once to install the MOOG 7226S, then the 2nd time to install the DAYSTAR Coil Spring spacers...

yes both daystars and 7226S, but I wore the 7226S in for a couple years and 40,000 miles before putting in the daystars... I have some pics, but I have since taken the ricksons off and put stock tires on so overall the wheel is 2" shorter now, which is more of a gap. Take note of where the centerline of the front wheel is in the wheelwell...
Actually nevermind I have a pic of the stock wheels with this set up as well...
And make sure you get a big beefy pickle fork. I used the fattest one I could find, as the standard one they sell at Harbour frieght and Autozone is too small. The "pitman arm" remover worked perfectly... Oh, and get a big mini/hand sledge to pop it off.
