I turned the fuel screw in a couple of rounds,backed down the idle to 750rpm and every thing was fine for a couple of weeks.But the last two days when I start it in the morning it idles at 500 until it warms up and then it is back to 750. Any idea why????

 

Mine always idles at 500.
Now, I guess there is something wrong with mine. Great.

 

How many miles?

Probably just the components of the governor getting wore down in your IP.

That is often the first thing that goes on a tractor IP, not governor-ing (sic) properly.

Unless it causes major problems do not worry.

Ok thanks, I turned the idle up today so I'll see how it goes. I have 245000 km on the truck I guess I should put that in my sig

 

I have 335,000 miles on my engine and it had idled at 550 since i bought it with 286,000 miles on it and the IP seems to be good, The truck runs very strong,,, But at start up thee is no differance between cold and warm, That is a bit odd,,,, Someone here will have a clue, keep checking back,,,, Mabey you have some lift pump issues, Or a fuel issue(air in fuel)?????

 

Mine starts out cold at about 650, then works its way up to 750 or so by 4-5mi. I think it is just age in the fuel system, as I have a new pump, lift pump, and injectors, and no fuel leakage. As long as it starts and runs, I dont worry about it. This is the first one to do this, though, and it is #8.
