Lost front caliper keeper, again...

Bolt is still in, but the L-shaped holder, and the leaf spring are missing. This is the 4th time. Last time I welded extra material on the leaf spring so it wouldn't fall out, and that was about a year ago. Are the slides on the caliper or knuckle just plain worn out? What now?

Thanks!

Man, mine is so tight that I have to tap it in with a hammer. I can't even imagine one coming out, especially if the retaining bolt is still in. Is it the correct caliper? Mark

Yeah it's the right caliper. I checked the numbers on it and everything. The knuckle has 445ish thousand miles on it though, and who knows about the calipers because they are probably napa rebuilds...

Caliper and bracket is probably wore out. I just replaced my calipers at 250,000km and they were wore fairly good.

I had a 79 Ford that used to spit them out and I finely I tack welded them in.

I read somewhere, many years ago(10 or so) that those wedges where made in different thicknesses the make up for lost material. Kinda like .030 or .040 or .060 thousanth over pistons
