Looking at new pump

So my pump is on it's way out, and I've been looking for a new one. I talked with a local company with good reputation this is what I come up with they have 2 options 1) they have pumps being rebuilt now for around $700-750 with giving them my core. 2) they have in stock aftermarket pumps for $650 with Bosch housing and Bosch head rotor, but the springs and things are chinese. I also do not have to give them my old pump for a core on the aftermarket pumps, so I can keep my old one to play with. Anyone have experience with these aftermarket pumps? I know the get what you pay for theory, but want to know if anyone has real experience with them. Money is an issue, and I NEED my truck back in good working condition. I didn't talk to the guy that knows everything about the pump it was another guy I talked with, but plan on getting back in touch with them to talk to him before purchase to answer more questions.
Thanks for any help guys.

Yeah that's who I talked to. That makes me feel a little better about getting one. I also like the idea of having my old pump to play with, and maybe try to rebuild.

I was just about to ask what shop you were getting it from. Never ran one of those pumps but $650 and to keep your spare for a "play pump" sounds like a decent deal to me.

It's Diesel Auto Power in Kaysville. Seems like a good deal, I need to go pick one up after the 1st I think. How hard is it to swap pumps? Watching the youtube videos I think it should be straight forward.

Who did you talk to at DAP? Was that a special price they gave you? I don't see that pump listed on their website.

I asked in the sponsor section on cumminsforum and JKIDD said he had them. I also called and talked to Shaw about them, he didn't have all the answers so I want to talk to Jacob still.
Here's his post from there-

"We have some pumps being rebuilt for stock and performance and a couple of aftermarket pumps with no core required at $650. We will give $200 credit for a good core. So end price will be $450

Feel free to call us 801-927-4600"

So you can get one for 450 but for $200 I'd rather keep the pump.

Picked up my pump today, so hoping to get it on soon. What size crows foot do I need to get the injector lines off the pump? Is it 17mm? And does anyone have any advice as far as what not to do when changing out the pump?

Sounds like we need to have a 1st gen get together. I don't think I used a crows foot to pull/put on the lines at the pump. If you take them off and put them on in the right sequence you can just use a wrench

If you put #1 at TDC, with the pin, as instructed in the manual, the woodruff key ends up at the 6 o'clock position. This makes it easier to lose down into the engine, IMO. This is true especially on reassembly. I would suggest rotating the pump, so that the key is at 12 o'clock, it gets gravity working for you...Mark
