Looking at a 93 auto 2x4, $6000?

Seems like a lot since its in work truck condition. The guy said that it had not been run all winter. He needed to jump it, but it fired right off. I have seen it sitting at the lot and it hasn't moved. Did not seem to have any rust and drove good, brakes are a bit less than ideal. It did not smoke a bit and I could see a little bit comming out of the pipe under the engine, but nothing under the truck.
The price seems a bit high. What could a similar truck sell for today? Thanks.

what i'd pay and what they sell for are two different things. what you saw under the truck was just fine, it's the breather, no problems there. i recently sold a 92 2wd auto for $6500, however, i wouldn't pay that myself.

I've looked at alot on craigslist and in the paper. The only thing consistent is that the price is not. They are all over the place. My opinion is $6500 is too much for a work truck condition 1st gen. Of course mileage is a big factor. If it's between 180 and 220 I'd say $3500-$5000 would be more like it.

I would say it is a good price if it had low miles... anything under 150K.

Look around though... there was a first gen on craigslist seling for 3K.
(dually non 4-wheel drv. selling out of hollister gilroy area)

I paid $3500 for mine this year... but I bought it from my parents. It's rusting some and needs a lot of paint, 184,000 miles.

I forgot to mention 155000 miles, cigerette burns on the seats, quad cab, some oil underneath, but not bad. One thing that I noticed was that it did not have the horrible exhaust smell or clouds of smoke that my 05 has. Anybody got a guess as to what one of the automatics would cost to repair if it goes south? Thanks

I guess you mean extended as quad cab. The horrible smell is, i believe, because of the cat/emissions of your 05.

If it is in a car lot for that long, start at $3500 cash and work up or walk away. If it stinks like cig smoke, that will almost never go away. How badly do you want it?

I paid $4,000- for this 93 last year when it had 125,000 miles on it. No scratches, dents and no rust. Always kept in the garage, never even had a traler hitch on it till I got it. I think he is asking too much?
