Well thanks for the opinions but I didn't get the truck. Truck went for $2400. I didn't think it was worth that much but someone else did.

I live in Illinois. This area seems to be pretty starved for old Dodges. I have had my Black Dodge for 12 years and just got my Red Dodge 5speed last July. The nearest junkyard that tries to keep some old Dodges on hand is 90 minutes away. Maybe I am not looking hard enough! I am not too far from St. Louis, MO but the junkyard prices are higher so I only use them as a last resort.

Question

Does anyone know if there is a difference in the transmission hump on the cab floor between 2wd vs. 4wd? I have heard that the transmission floor hump is different.

Yes, and in some cases it depends on the year. I know that the two that I have from the 80's used the 4WD x 4 speed type floor in 2WD automatic trucks.

Anyone done a conversion to a 4x4 crew cab. I see a lot of talk about using 2 wheel drive crew cabs, but little on 4x4. One question I have, since both the 80s crews and 90s CTD where basically the same suspension, is it a direct bolt one for spring packs, shock, and axle housings? I am personally weighing my options I have an 85 Crew Cab 4x4 short box and a 91 Regular Cab CTD long box. Ideally I would make the crew a long box, Winr already gave me the skinny on that transition; however, I am thinking of living with short box if the drivetrain swap is going to be pretty straight forward and inexpensive. We have a good discourse here let's keep it going.

I haven't got it completed yet but I have a 2WD V8 gasser automatic crew to 4WD Cummins diesel 5 speed crew in progress.

swapping your drive train should be fairly easy if you had the tool's and a way to lift motor you could have it done in I would say a month's worth of weekend's only thing that might be a challenge is drive shaft length .

Yup, with the exception of the rear floor to frame interference issue this is probably the easiest one to do. Both have nearly identical wheelbases.

Do a search on here and the Conversion forum and you will find several detailed threads on Cummins Crew conversions. Several members (including myself) have done them. I started with a '85 W350 and used a '92 W250 as the donor. Much of it was a direct swap, but don't fool yourself that it is not a time intensive project!
