Re:Lift kit

Looking to use the same lift on my truck in the future when I have the cash. It looks pretty strait forward for the install, just have a number of jack stands on hand to support the truck and then use a floor jack to adjust the axle. You may also want to put some penetrating oil on the bolts for the springs. If you would take measurements before and after on things like bumper height and didtance between wheel rim and fender. It would be nice to have for others can compare their rides. What size tires do you plan on running?

Re:Lift kit

Well I put in the new springs and wow what a difference. The truck now stands 3.5" taller in the front and rides so much better than it ever did before. The install was very easy and only took a few hours. As far as tire size 255 85 R16's are on it now but who knows what I'll put on when those wear out.
Note: You will have to buy new shocks the stockers don't fit with 2.5" springs. One of these days I will figure out how to put pics. on this site so you guys can see my smoking money pit .

Re:Lift kit

Hey Paws,
Did you replace the springs in the back and remove the blocks? Also did you change the steering arm, pitman arm, or drag link? I just want to know what else I need to get with the kit.

Thanks,
Jim

Re:Lift kit

No I did not replace the back springs, I wanted to find out how the front springs worked first. I dont really know if I want to loose those back springs yet either I can put one heck of a load in the old girl and not have it hardly sag or sway in the corners. As for the front the only thing that you have to change is the shocks the stockers are too short. The kit instructions said you can go all the way up to a 4" kit and not have to change anything steering wise, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. I would suggest that you get the install kit for new bushings and u-bolts. One more tip shop around for the springs, I found price diff. of $50 per spring.
