Question Leaf spring articulation???

I am looking to get more articulation out of the OE spring packs. Is there an aftermarket shackle like the Terra-flex revolver for jeeps available for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks? DOT approved?

Is grease or a lube/oil a good idea for the spring packs? Or will it attract dirt and become an abrasive slurry/paste?

Lift springs vs OE + Blocks? (articulation)

What would be the ultimate one size fits most suspension for a /34 1st gen that tows/hauls, drives daily, blows smoke at the ricers and explores trails in the "outback"???????? I am partial to Skyjacker but I want the best.

Looking forward to all of your answers!

D-C out!

I might be able to help you a little here.

I have a 85W350 that has seen some very hard use. It tows, wheels, goes down the road all the time and in general just gets abused. I am running Alcan spring custom spring packs that lifted the truck maybe 4" I had them change the center pin location on the rear axle (to move the axle back to center of wheel opening) and we moved the front axle forward 1" to help tire clearance. It rides as good or better than many halftons, it has handled tounge weight far above whats prudent on ANY bumper pull, and has seen enough off road action to test a set of springs with ZERO issues. It also articulates very well...it also doesn't lift a wheel off road very easily.

NoRM
who considers the $1000 they cost one of the best mods I ever did to the truck.

Anything that eliminates the factory rear block is a step in the right direction. Beyond that, your wallet is the limit. The best is best spelled be$$$t

exactly what i was going to say, if im correct if you go with a "long arm" lift it will give you more flex then just a regular lift kit. i dont think that they lift the vehicle as high but dont quote me. im sure someone with a long arm kit will chime in. good luck with it!

I think sykjacker is the only company that makes springs specifically for our trucks. I've got a set, and they aren't bad. A little soft for towing, but plenty of flex. You could probably get better if you had them custom made, but I haven't had trouble with the skyjackers.

Question

This may sound like I am an idiot but the springs are hard mounted 90 degrees to the fram do the springs twist at the shackles along with vertical compression? How much can they take?

Thats where the bushings in the spring eyes come into play. I've never really seen someone bent/ break a spring hanger or shackle, so I guess they can take a lot. Doubt you'll ever have it a full flex while towing 20K anyway.
