late prodution 93's--differant head???
Hi all was searchin old postings researching 1st gen 4x4's ,and saw mention that besides the smaller turbo housing[better spooling] and the clubcab size?? that some of the late prodution models had a better/differant head ...however there was no followup would this be the 94 head with the #60 springs and more hp?? could those in the know please enlighten us all. and how do you tell.. thanks
While it is unconfirmed, there is some indication that the late model 93's may have come with the newer 94 heads. Mine has the "indicator" noted below...
If you look at the side of the head just above/behind the AFC housing area you will see a "notch" that is ground/missing from the side of the head. Apparently that is because the change to the P-pump on the 94's needed extra room to make them fit.
On some trucks I've looked at that notch is not ground out or missing and it is right were the domed AFC housing would hit the head if you could rotate it far enough upwards to touch.
As I said, I don't have any proof but it does seem to be the "accepted" theory.
The 94 heads are supposed to breath a bit better too, or so I'm told.
