Are there any good off the shelf larger then stock exhaust systems for the first Gens or will i have to have something built for it? Like 4" or something like that.

I am using a Stan's Headers 4" turbo back with a Donaldson straight through muffler. It uses all the stock hangers except for the tailpipe. A bracket is included with the kit that you weld where ever it is called for. I was told the reason for this is because of so many different variations in tailpipe bracket locations even with trucks of the same year. Rip Rook makes a nice exhaust also. However, the standard would be a 3" DP with 4" back. You can order it with a 4" DP but you will need to finish fabricating it; he is not jigged for a 4" DP. It doesn't include hangers either. My system was very easy to install. The most time consuming part was cutting off the old exhaust. It was rusted and wouldn't come apart at the joints. You AND your truck will be happier with an exhaust upgrade.

downpipe

Will a 4 inch downpipe work with a wastegated housing, auto tranny, and transfercase on my 89 or would I need a ballpeen adjustment here and there?

 ballpeen adjustment

Possibly an 8oz adjustment...but you won't need a 16 oz one.

Has anybody found a kit that has dual tail pipes? I kinda like sharing the smoke and sound with both sides of the street.

There are a couple company's making a 4" mandrel bent piece to go around the t-case. Works good. Prior to buying this, I tried to build a 5" downpipe back setup. 5" *fits*. Just its gonna take some time and welding to get your angles right so that nothing rubs. BTW, I stuck 2' piece of 5" flex through there. It fits, just you'll have to get it just right because there is little to no clearance between the frame, t-case, and front driveshaft. It has been done though.
