KDP question

I have the front cover off the engine and dowel pin is still ok.. thank goodness.. I ordered a kit from TST and it hasn't shown yet so maybe I'm ahead of the game with this question. Looking at the pictures I have seen of the bolt and dowel the surface looks flat. on mine the surface isn't flat. The dowel hole is raised a bit looking like the bolt and flat tab (if that's what comes in the kit) won't sit flush like the pictures. I'm guessing the 2nd gens are different and this is where the pictures come from.
My question I guess is... Is the 1st gen and 2nd gen case a bit different? I maybe putting cart before the horse but just looking at it a flat tab won't work on mine. Right or wrong?? It almost looks like I would need a stud more then a longer bolt??

Be sure to Locktite all your case bolts while you have it apart. They are as big a problem (or worse) on 1st gens.

Those would be the ones under the cover ov course. Check also the cam retainer bolts.
