Just wanted to rant a little.....
I have had similar night-mare experiences, which have led me to avoid involving anyone in my mechanical endeavors.
This same also applies to any other work I may need done, such as house or shop repairs, and electrical or plumbing work.
That being said, I am very fortunate to have two friends that also happen to be mechanics with their own shops; these guys are the only ones besides myself that I trust with my trucks, if and when the task proves to be more than I can handle alone.

Yep I know i feel the same. I have never taken my truck to a shop to have anything done (except new windshield installed, but I watched them do it through the window) and I plan on doin all the work myself. I just buy parts. Dealers are usually the worst and good diesel shops are hard to come by. Anytime someone quotes you a price then takes 3 times as long as they told you then jacks the price up is a bunch of bull crap if you ask me. I'd give them a piece of my mind.
