Junking the ABS system?

This truck is the newest vehicle I own. I've never known anti lock and have learned and survived the old way. If the ABS in this truck ever operated I've never noticed it. The newer vehicles may be the way, but the consensus seems to be that the 1st gens were inferior to new standards. I'm comfortable - and familiar - with the handling of pre computerized brakes so I'll stick with what I know, until I can afford, or am forced to buy "new". my $0.02.

They're basically just fittings that eleminate the mechanism and plumb the two lines together. I'll look at the bags and see if they have descriptions, which I think they do as far as thread size and type.

so...this may be a tad off topic...or at least the original question..but we are talking brakes here..so I will ask anyway. My brake pedal is very soft....but if I press it down pretty far once...allow it to release and then press it again...the pedal is very firm and the braking power increases dramatically. I checked my fluid....nearly topped off....what gives? redwake

Self Adjuster- you gotta crawl under the truck and ADJUST them yourSELF.
Sorry, guys, i no longer have the baggies they came in, and the receipt just says "fitting" with the number. They were Eaton, though, if that helps.

When I replaced the rear axle, the ABS wires just didn't get reconnected... no ABS. Now I just have regular, old fashioned, rear brakes that don't like to self adjust and are impotent under a load or behind a diesl engine that declellerates slower than you can apply brakes.

OK, after much digging around at the Eaton site, I found a pdf of the brake line catalog, and there on page 3 is a picture of the part, a "dual master cylinder adapter" with the sizes listed for each part number. 7917 and 7828 are listed there.

Per dpuckett's NAPA part numbers I asked for and received from my local NAPA:
7917 - Eaton bag w/ 1 brass fitting, male & female threads. Bar code # 25975 75883 0
7828 Dual Master Cylinder Adapter - Eaton bag w/ 5 brass fittings, male & female threads. Bar code # 39789 25980 6
I've not opened to measure the thread sizes but 7917 is bigger than 7828. Daniel will have to chime in on which hooks to whut.

All I gave them was 7917 & 7828. Said they'd have to order it and be in in a day or two. But then I have good NAPA guys. They try hard, enjoy a challenge and give me a discount...

Well today I spent a total of $8.24, and fixed all my brake issues.
I cut the line going into the ABS and the Line coming Out.
Flared them both and put them together. and bled the rear.Now I have the brakes I grew up around. and I can stop better Now.

Any way to post a picture as to what you guys are eliminating? I will be doing my brakes here soon, sounds like the thing to do while I'm at it.

Not to be a smart alec, but it is self explanatory once you get under the truck and start putting lines together. I put the adaptors on the line coming into the ABS valve (Big adaptor, then little, then line), then ran the axle brake hose up to the adaptor, and tied it together, bypassing the valve and the second shorte line. I had to flex the new set up a little to tuck it up out of the way- otherwise it just hangs down and looks ugly. As if the rest of my 90 doesnt.
