Several have said that they wouldn't dyno because of traveling a distance and fear of a break down. I've never run the dyno before but would like to. What exactly does it involve and why the fear of breakage?

I thought you just hook up and run up through the RPMs while it tries to hold you back? is it it that much different than pulling a laod etc?

Consider this a teachable moment .

Its the same as pulling a load on black top, U have no worries unless you trucks runs hot but your can set a limit on what u want them to run.

You're not likely to break anything dynoing. It's much less load than just driving the truck on the road.

How many runs do you get on the dyno? Do they all have to be consecutive? I'm formulating plans here.

3 consecutive pulls on the dyno. You're strapped down and that takes awhile, usually each truck takes 15 minutes to setup and dyno. Then with other trucks in line, you can't run once, pull off, run again, pull off etc.

Understood. i was just thinking. I should be getting some new injectors around then, and with it being an all day event I was thinking about getting a baseline, then installing the injectors and rerunning to see the gain. They always do that on "Horsepower" on Spike tv. I had delusions of grandeur.

I was thinking the exact same thing, so much for experimentation that requires screw drivers. I guess just pre-installed switched items are the only thing u can do different. that sucks!

Getting a bit off topic here, but most shops that have a dyno will sell you dyno time by the hour. You get strapped down and the dyno is yours for however much time you paid for. The dyno closest to me wants $125/hr - unfortunately the lift to get you up on the dyno is too short for a long bed club cab.
