It's MoParty Time!
The Holley MoParty at Beach Bend (Bowling Green KY) is September 13-15th.
Car/truck show, survivors, swap meet, autocross, dyno challenge, off-road course and oh yeah, the drag races! Nothing like seeing all the old muscle cars doing what they do best.
I went last year with my dad and had a blast. Saw several Cummins repowered trucks, lots of cool old Mopars and scored a few treasures at the swap. I plan to go again next month. Hope to camp at Mammoth Cave NP near by. I know Bowling Green isn't very close to most of youall but it's well worth a visit if you're near enough or up for a rewarding road trip.

Finally some rain!!! And man do we need it. So I'm not complaining that the forecast is for rain and thunderstorms every day. I've already bought my ticket and reserved my campsite and cleaned out my truck.
It rained/drizzled all through last years event too. They canceled some of the off-road challenge (seemed ironic to me...) and it kept delaying the drag races but the rest of the show went on. Even made some of the track events more interesting! The forecast may keep some at home but hopefully it will still be a blast and worth the trip. I just hope the venders and swap meet folks all still come. I could use a dash pad for my '77 and a few other truck odds & ends.
I may end up sleeping in my truck but still looking forward to it! At least it will be warm; and warm and wet is tolerable.
Paraphrasing an old English or German saying: "there is no bad weather, only poor clothing choices"

If any DTR'ers make it to the show and can take some pictures... I for one would like to see what some of the trucks look like at the show.
May you choose wisely on the clothing choices - KRB!
Sleeping in the truck can be a fun time. I always have to get a few truck camping trips into my year.

The weather, unfortunately, turned out nice. It rained on the way down but that was it. At least we got a little over 1/2" at home. The truck did just fine on the 350 mile trip!
Didn't find anything in the swap meet that I absolutely had to have but enjoyed looking. There was a nice body Dart sans drivetrain for $3k. My uncle who I lived with in college had one we used on the farm to spread manure with, drag pastures and disc tobacco fields (he had no tractor on his 200 acres...). I tried to buy it when he got rid of it but he insisted it was not safe for a college kid and sold it for scrap.
The car show was great, spread out all over the grounds, well over 100 vehicles, maybe even twice that as it was hard to tell all spread out. Vehicles ranged from restored to Survivors to daily drivers to barn finds. Probably over 20 trucks maybe? One being a COE with the Detroit. There were about a half dozen pop tops and about that many trucks converted to Cummins (plus a couple born that way). Two really nice crew cabs, one a CTD. This year there were two M37s, both sporting a Cummins, one intercooled, one not. Saw a bunch of Dusters which made me pine for my first car - a Space Duster (had the half top with a sunroof and fold down rear seats/trunk like the early Challenger). After it got totaled the second time I let it go. Neither were my fault (it was actually parked the first time...). My favorite though was a burgundy with black top/bumpers/interior '69 Charger. It just looked and sounded right.
The only carnage I saw at the drag races was a blown u-joint while warming the tires. The auto cross was a blast to watch as was the 3S. I never realized there were so many newer Challengers and Chargers out there! SRTs and Hellcats. Some of the old muscle now had modern Hemi's in them even... Watching the mostly stock cars (and trucks & Jeeps) compete was really interesting.
It was weird to spend the day hearing the constant scream of big & small blocks and breathing rubber then to go to my relatively "remote" camp site and paddle board the Green River...
This was the event I took dad to last year and I'm glad we were able to make it. He loved Mopars as did his dad. One of his last outings before he started to decline. He actually passed away at home the morning before I left. He had good timing.
I took some pictures but they are on my flip phone and I have neither the knowledge nor the desire to learn how to post them. I'll gladly do an Ollie and text them to anyone more talented and industrious than me to post.

Thanks Oliver. It wasn't anticipated but it wasn't a surprise either when I found him. He'd been in decline for the last few months. It was a good time for him to go, while he still had his mind and was at home. Turned 84 in May.
At Moparty 2023 he really enjoyed looking but it was hard for him to get around and he wore out pretty quick. I didn't even tell him about this year's event and I was worried about being gone for three days and leaving just my brother to check on him and the cows & heifers. But all the heifers had calved and all the cows but one so after he passed I figured I needed the diversion and some fun.
