ip rebuild time, 3200 spring and fuel pin?

well, the time has come, as I feared the pump needs to be rebuilt. When she gets hot the oil pressure drops to less than 30, like clockwork. Towing, overhead camper, firewood, 4lo, any work situation i have to keep my foot on the go button to keep the oil above 40. I have the cash now, so no time like the present since i plan on having this pile a long time. J&H performance here in redding quoted between 700 and a 1000, the spring only runs 20 bucks, so thats a no brainer, but the ddp fuel pin is 200. I can install the pin myself, but is it good to have the ip builder calibrate everything with the pin? any opinions are appreciated.

Why does oil pressure below 30 psi concern you? Unless the truck is dying at hot idle, the pump is OK.

I don't understand, You mean the RPM's are dropping when its hot.... in turn making the oil light come on?

The oil light comes on, the idle sounds LOW(no tach), truck feels like its going to die, so i put the fuel to it because i figure that the motor doesn't enjoy loping along like that. The summers here get very hot, well over 100, and that is always the worst. Even when it is cool out and i pull in my driveway the oil light comes on and idle gets very low.

If it was me I'd set the idle higher, but it does sound like the pump is tired. It's not likely to hurt anything running it longer.

Install the pin yourself.

Part of the problem is probably a poor connection on the oil sending unit. There's a write-up in the sticky about taking it apart and cleaning the terminals. (Credit BC847). I would guess the oil light may not come on if it was in tip top shape. As for the low idle when warm, it sounds like your pump is a little worn but mine has been doing that for a couple of years now. I don't worry for a second about it. Bump the idle a tad to compensate for when its hot unless you really want to spend that money.

EDIT: That's twice you've beat me on the trigger Dave

So the thing wont just fail? Im towing my girlfriends car, most of our house and a cabover to alaska in a year and a half, I just want to get the thing in top shape. In the summers, it is not driveable in the heat, plus , i just came into some cash, it seems like postponing the inevitable.
