Intermetant Check Engine Light
Intermetant Check Engine Light
Hey all,
Twice in the last two years I have gotten the check engine light along with low voltage and the #47 (I think) code indicating voltage expected low. Both times I was able to tap the alternator and the symptoms disappeared for the better part of a year. Obviously, I seem to be experiencing a failing alternator, but could it be anything else: loose diode, other, etc? I've never had a failing alternator be fixed with a slight tap and have it work fine for such an extended period. Thanks in advance!

Check the field connections real close. I've seen wired things like this caused by a very slightly loose crimp, or an oxidized connector.
