Good luck with your search. If you're looking for a 4wd 5spd, don't worry about intercooled or non-intercooled. Both will do what you want easily, so find one in good condition, doesn't matter what year, and have fun.

 

What's a good price on a non I/C truck vs. a I/C truck ? Do you deduct a few grand ?

Not a difference in years just condition. I have seen both junk or good. My 89 has 127,000 miles and is worth as much as a 92 with same miles and condition.

 

I would pay a premium for the earlier/non-IC, in preference to the later IC, considering everything else was the same.

I have a non ic 91` and it pulls 26,000gvw easily, doesnt have water or meth injection, or a retro ic. as long as you dont mess with the fuel pin your egt's will stay reasonable. Like i have the full load screw maxed and my egt's wont hit 1,250F on a manifold pyrometer. Non intercooled is my recomendation. and lots more free power with the bigger injectors that came stock.

 

This touches on a question I've had regarding this difference between the intercooled and non-intercooled trucks since being on this site. I still have my 91 that I am pulling parts off of. Does it make sense to switch the injectors to my 93 just for fun and towing 8-9K around California's hilly coast?

 

If I remember correctly, you can't switch injectors from a non I/C to an I/C'ed truck.

I bought my 91 w250 non ic for 5,ooo. came with a flatbed, new ball joints and u joints, all the boxes (tranny, front and rear differentials, and transfercase) looked at and parts were new, and with a new set of tires. hopefully that can give you an idea. 284000 miles and its still worth half of what it was new.
