So if the total area of 6 POD's (4x.015") is .000707, then it looks to me like the next step up would be 6x.014" at .0009236. Sound about right? Anyone running this size? I'm thinking they would run cleaner tham my trusty POD's, and maybe yeild better MPG's if I can keep out of it.
Thoughts?

If I'm not mistaken PODs are 4x.014 right?

Also, The Head is running a set of 6x.014 injectors. You should ask him how his run.

I'm going with a set of 7x.014 tips but I haven't received them yet.

POD's are 4x.015"...
6x.014's might be a little large for my setup... Hey "The Head", how do you like them?

6 holes are done only because it is easy. Best for competition, 5 holes...

I'd like to see some kind of facts to back up the above post.

I can't find the exact link, but in an injector thread, Weston once said on 6 hole injectors the needle can stick? causing 3 of the hole to be cut off from the flow. I forget what he called it.

I've read posts that say that, as well as some saying its really hard to setup a 6 hole injector correctly. I lean toward the latter causing certain builders to sway people away from them.
Lots of power has been made with both in VE motors.

"low lift needle deviation"

This is common in VCO nozzles when compared to Sac nozzles, however, much more evident in the 6-hole vs the 5-hole.

Bosch quit using the 6-hole design in '94, even though the angle of the jet did not change, needle steer and uneven seating area wear being two of the factors. Basically, when the valve opens the needle is side-loaded which causes 3 holes to fire, and 3 holes do not.

On the dyno a 5-hole compared to a 6-hole all things kept constant, the 6-hole made ~ 11hp more with a bit more smoke.

On more than one instance, I have seen a mini-sac 5-hole nozzle stock in an intercooled 1st Gen. These trucks ran quite a bit better than others in stock trim with one less hole and the same hone size.

What the heck kind of nozzles do we have? My Bosch and Lucas the same type (VCO nozzles - Sac nozzles)? Sac, right? What exactly is the difference?

I don't even know what design my injectors use.

I'm not too worried about it right now, I got other issues to worry about before I go spending another $600 or more on injectors.

What about a 7x10? Would the extra orifice be a bad thing or more efficient?

7x.010" has less flow then even my old 370's. The 7x.010" tips have 0.00054978 area, and my POD's have .000707. 5x.016" are at .001005312

Looks like 7x.014" would be perfect.

I have a set of 7x.014 on order from contagious. Now It's been 6 weeks and I haven't gotten my injectors (nor have I heard from them, and I did send an email out earlier this week, no response yet)

when I get everything running and get the injectors, I'll let ya know.

they apparently start life as a 7x.010 tip with a 158* spray angle. As they get honed, they are able to change the spray angle. On smaller hone jobs (7x.011 or 12) they can't correct it all the way. On the larger hones, they are able to do a better job correcting the spray angle. I will report my results when everything gets back together.

that said, they have uncovered genuine bosch 7 hole nozzles that start life as a 7x.010 148* spray. They are more expensive but I think would be a better fit. As far as I know, the ones I ordered are not the genuine bosch tips.
