Info for building CTD Ramcharger (4x4)

Hi everybody!

I'm really enjoying my new (to me) 90 D250. Its a 5-speed truck without any options.

I've spotted a 90 RC at the local towing yard, which has been abandoned. It is a 4x4 - probably V8 auto.

Is swapping the CTD in there just a basic engine & trans swap?

I'll probably not even worry about making 4wd work. Just want an enclosed body where I can trade off utility space for seating at any time.

TIA, Kevin

Welcome!
Physically speaking, yes.
Meeting your state's emissions requirements where required may be a completely different story.

Luckily I have no emissions requirements to worry about here.

I guess one specific question that comes to mind...

Is the engine mounting area the same on a gas or diesel 4x4?

r/c

yes, front mounts are same, t-case crossmember might need to be slid back, holes redrilled, depends on trans, this would require drive shaft mods, you could use the 1st gen core support for intercooler, or mod stock for 2nd gen cooler
