identify dana 60

howdy, i am going to a local junk yard this week with my boss to get my self a spindle and hub for my dana 60, now i know of the owner of the junk yard and he is not swift, so he will be no help as in helping me find what i need, so my question is how will i be able to identify the dana 60?, just by it's sheer size and where the pumkin is? also the guy from the junkyard said $40 for a spindle while really the book says $160 used so that shows you what he knows whats going on haha, or is there a certain number i should look for on the axle to identify it? thanks Gregg

Ditto what ccab said. It'll be cast into the webbing. Ya may wanna take a chisel and wire brush as I'm sure the ones in the junkyards may be a bit....Crusty!

Oh, and looky here for just about ANY question you may have about the almighty Dana 60.

Yeah, but his BOSS is going with him. From what I've learned in previous threads his boss gots lots of smarts!

And admittedly, the pirate page has a LOT of info. But it should hopefully help the guy out a little bit!

Good stuff. I just spent about a half hour reading it myself just out of curiosity, I'm not even in the market for any Dana 60 stuff. I thought it was interesting how they modified the case slightly for the 61 to allow for 3.07 gear.

What are do you live in, or what is the name and location of said junk yard.

I drive just about every part of the country, and just may need to stop by the yard and say hello

oh, well if you drive in upper canada way up north of british columbia the place that has them is skb in terrace b.c, you may have to disassemble the axle to get at them though, hes a lazy bugger and dosent clean it up enought to organize the place.or if i can get a bunch for that price i could always send em down to who ever is wanting one, just pay the price i got em for and shipping if i can get the time to go out there and grab a bunch.
