fwiw, i haven't bought one YET.- i'm still driving my >25YO Mercedes 300D.
(as bad as the weather here is supposed to be this next week, i doubt that i'll have one NEXT week either!= fyi, i HATE snow/ice/sleet/"freezing rain".)

All the 300D was my first diesel as well. Good luck on the purchase. I think you have the right mindset. Always be prepared to walk away. There will always be another truck for sale if the one you're looking at isn't the "one".

 

That's how these old trucks work. When you want one, like now, they vanish. As soon as you have one they come out of the woodwork and you see them in the strangest places.

 

TELL me about it ! Not to mention the really good ones with low price tags!
