The design is actually ingenuous: besides giving about 14-3/16" of travel between each shift, which gives remarkable leverage against a probably underfilled Getrag, this shifter is designed to promote a rotator cuff tendinitis of the right shoulder within a few miles of utilization. And if you thought that the holes all along the shaft are for obvious weight gain consideration, think also of the much needed relief they provide to the mentioned shoulder, as the user - in great pain by then - will reach down to one of the 26 or so holes to continue shifting his way through his journey... Truly remarkable...
