Sounds like someone is getting soft in their old age. Just wait until that new truck gets a few years on it and all the electronics start to fail, can you say high dollar, and you would still have high payments to contend with. No thanks, I will drive the old reliable truck for 10 more years. I still travel all over the US pulling my 5th wheel and it has never let me down yet. I get just as much performance, better fuel mileage and no payments and I don't have to drive a boring truck just like millions others on the road every day. If a part wears out I replace it and smile when I go to the bank each month and deposit my pay instead of sending it to the finance company.

KEEP IT! The newer trucks are plentiful and you could wait and find a deal down the road when you had the $ and hold onto both trucks. Why do you think the next guy is willing to give you the $ price you want! He knows the deal. KEEP IT!

KEEP IT!

I sold my dream years ago (the '93 in my sig) I had lot's of time and $$ into it. I sold it because I needed money for a bigger house. The 4 years I was without it were horible. I was driving junk gassers and even a non-turbo 6.5 cc I consider myself the luckies man on earth to have found my current '92 and I will NEVER sell it. It is my dream, part 2.

havin somthin new always sounds good. wait till you've got 30 more monthly payments to make and the new one needs tires, brakes, batteries all at once- or any scenario like that. Payments get old fast dude. That truck of yours is cool and will get cooler. Your pals have new ones? who cares. Drive it cause you love it.

I confess i think about a similar move. My child and 'ex-wife' travel several times a year to see my folks and i got reg cab. A 2002 quad cab is on my radar but more payments, parking on the street instead of inside(long box only), potential unknowns- keeps me from taking that test drive.

at 19 you don't want to 'blend in' with a second or third gen. a really NICE first gen really stands out. I remember seeing TATERS truck at truck Carlisle and among all the trucks i saw that day it really popped. I know back when they came out I never really gave them credit for how handsome of a truck they are. and EASY to work on. unique mounting parts are already not available but you dont need them. the rest of the stuff like sheetmetal and suspension/steering parts will always be available. Hey, I kept mine, and just went and bought a 2nd gen, so have both. Yours is a mirror image of mine, except I went with a 4 inch, not a 6 inch lift.

You've spent a lot of time and effort putting it together, it would be hard to part with it.

Dude...I would keep that truck. It's one of the nicest 1st gens I 've seen. The others have already told you this, but your truck is becoming increasingly uncommon, a disappearing legend. You have years and years to buy a newer truck, but anybody fortunate enough to own a 1st gen (let alone a beast like yours) should keep it. It's probably paid for.....so now its just maintenance. You can save up for your new truck...get one in a few years....keep that rig in your family. I have thought about selling my first gen several times....but I cannot do it. Just keep it...like I said...you have no bills on this truck....except the ones you want (MODS). I couldn't believe you were going to sell it when I saw it. lol...you would be losing out both ways...driving anything but a first gen...and losing your first gen. Keep it. redwake

thanks for all the reply' s i have slept on my decision and i still cant decide for how much the guy offered me i really wouldn have much of a payment and the first thing i would do to a 2nd gen is a 6inch lift and tires so it wouldnt just blend in but i still cant decide i think im leaning towards keeping the truck

Just think about how much work it will take to get that second gen truck up to where your first gen truck is.

I say keep it!

Just keep a couple spare power steering box brackets around. and cowel repair kits.

KEEP IT.

I was in the exact same boat a few years ago. I built a small block Chevy S10 and loved the truck dearly. It was my pride and joy. I sold it after getting a very nice offer on the truck.

I had countless hours invested in the truck, and must say it was one of the nicest in my part of the country. The kid who bought it pretty muchran it in the ground then parted it out. Tore my heart out to see it at the end. I would trade every vehicle I own right now to have the S-10 back how it was when I finished it. (ok I would like to keep the dodge ).

Moral of the story if you honestly love your truck don't let it get away from you.

I sold my first Jeep which had a 4" lift and 33" tires all around. I cherished that vehicle and it showed!

I sold it for below market and bought something else Stupidest thing that I've ever done!!

If I were you I'd put it on ebay with a reserve and sell it to the highest bidder!! If you really want to sell it! Set your reserve at $1500.00 over what you will take for the vehicle and let it go!!

If you do not want to sell then close your ads and forget about it!! BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT!!

You are at the point where your truck can become a collectors item or your truck can just be another truck your choice my friend.

Rick
