HX40W ID Help

I just came upon an HX40W for sale. It has a T3 foot. The assy. # is 4041276 and the serial # is H100352994. It came off of a Volvo D7.

Can anyone help me figure out if this is a Super 40?

Thanks

I would say count the number of blades on the compressor but supposedly the Super 40s had either 6-, 7- or 8-bladed wheels. I remember reading years ago that they only had 7 and anything else was just a plain ol' hx-40.

It has six blades. Does anyone know the size of the exhaust housing?

The 40s are typically an 18cm turbine housing.

But some did come with a 16 cm housing, correct?

I could be wrong. 16cm might be the size.

the 40's could be had with 16/18 or 21 cm housings.

The current super 40 uses a 7 blade intake wheel. This model has an extended tip intake wheel. The 6/8 blade models were the old nonextended tip wheel. They flow less air.

This link has a flow chart showing the difference between the super40 and the standard 40's. The 6/8 blade are standard 40's.
