HX-40 whistle video

I know a lot of people thinking of buying and installing an HX-40 on their truck want to know how much it whistles. I'm about to take the 40 off of the truck, so I thought I'd make a quick video before I did.

The truck is equipped with 4" exhaust from the turbo back. No muffler. I just installed the black tip and everything last week. After shooting and reviewing this video, I realize there is an exhaust leak near the 45* elbow just peeking out from below the frame. IP has been turned up near max. Stock injectors. I don't have a tach, so I don't know how high the revs were. I'm not one to slap the truck around.

The black tip looks like it's angled weird: my camera has a 24mm fish-eye lens, so it distorts things. There are mud speckles on the black tip too- those aren't rock chips. Why do I feel the need to explain myself?

The wind was blowing and the truck is dirty. Sue me.

(I turned off comments, so this should be OK to link here):

let me guess.... it spools slow with the 18cm so you've been looking for a 16 but can't find one so now you're ditching the turbo all together? [lauhg]

It spools too slow with the 18cm housing and stock injectors and a 5 speed city driven 99% of the time. It's being replaced with an HE351 turbo off of a 2006 Cummins. It flows the same as an HX40 and has a 9cm housing (60/60/9 measurements). That should help significantly reduce the lag.

Yeah, who needs a turbo anyway.

(In my defense, the HX40 was on the truck when I bought it.)
