HTT 71 series

Any pros and cons on the High Tech Turbo 71 series?
I'm looking seriously at their "Super Stock" 62/71/14 because of its "low drive pressure" turban wheel.

bgilbert and GHLS have been saying for years the ultimate single turbo for a VE pumped first gen is a 62/71/14 although i think GHLS recommends a 12cm over the 14 on a mostly stockish first gen.

I can't really see any cons....

I can't speak from experience, but I know there's a bunch of guys here that run HX35's with the 12cm housing and tow with no problems at all. If you are running hot you could always back the fuel screw off a bit. I think with a compressor wheel that size you'll be fine though.

there is a big difference between a 12cm housing on a stock hx35 60mm wheel, and a 12cm housing on a high flow 71mm wheel.

so what is better than the 12cm or 14cm? Or does it really depend on the trans and other mods?

I am interested also because i have been keeping an eye out for one. I am really in need of more air.

I emailed Brandon at HTT on this. He said bad idea with the mods I have. Said I'd be better off with an HTB2 62/65/14. My lag is a drive pressure issue caused by the 4" hole. Not unusual for some applications.

I like it. I have a 5 speed so id rather have quick spool before max air. I drive my truck so i want the best manners 1st then best power 2nd.

If i had a bunch of money id get a ED 62/68/13. Its supposed to spool like a 65 but move the same amount of air as a 71. I cant say i have tried one but if that were true it would be the best of both worlds.

The 68mm turbine is the way to go even if you only need a 65mm turbine. Likewise with the 74mm turbine, it will light within 50rpm of the 71mm turbine, atleast in my experience.

Id only run the 71mm or 74mm turbine if your going for 500hp or more.
