How to use a 2nd gen clutch slave on a 1st gen?

Ok, I know guys have used this along with 2nd gen bells to swap nv4500's into 1st gens. Whats the secret to usung it. The mount for the pedal ram is different. I know ours turns clockwise into the plate mounted under the dash. Is it just that simple to drill two holes and mount it? Was the rod that attaches to the clutch pedal long enough? Sorry for all the questions. My dad wants to throw a wrench in the fan and use a second gen bell, engine plate, clutch slave and starter instead of buying a complete AA kit. Is there anything else he needs besides the 4x4 shifter bracket/ rod and a crossmember adapter? He plans to buy those from AA. He already has a bell, fork, and engine plate from a 2nd gen. Whats the best direction he should go? Thanks, RAM

There is a mounting plate under the dash that the MC mounts to with a 1/4 turn twist. I got a late model MC/clutch setup from South Bend Clutch that worked much better than the Dodge setup. The only thing I had to do was use the '93 OEM slave cyl push rod. After talking with Peter at SB he said that they had different length rods available. That setup was for 2nd gen vehicles.

exactly the same experience: the rod supplied by SouthBend for the 2nd gen hydraulics is too long: I thought about cutting it, threading it and fitting back the "screwable" eye, but it was easier to use the 1st gen cab side of the hydraulics and the rest from SouthBend

Can't remember the price but I'm sure Peter can help you. The slave cyl rod I got with mine was too short and that is why I used the 1st Gen rod. Mine came with a flange on the clutch M/C with two studs mounted on it. If yours comes that way that flange just needs to be removed - 1/4 turn by hand then you will see it is identical to the 1st Gen Clutch M/C.
