thanks,
One of our chapter members dynoed 138hp/390ft lbs ( i think ) last month on a first gen. It was totally stock no mods with 750,000 miles on it, and he still works it. Run it til it pukes.

Drive it utill the wheels fall off

My 93 was actually purchased new at the end of 93. It worked every day until May 2004. "Hard heavy towing work!" No internal engine work, 1- pump, 1- lift pump, 3- automatic trans, usual seals, joints, ect.. Oil change every 10,000 miles. Rear diff's never been apart (synthetic lube). Has 10 leaf rear springs + overloads (rides a little rough).
Never was a Dodge fan (I prefered Chevy) but I have to admit it's been a very good and dependable truck. Always brought me home!! Not bad for a "Mexico" built truck.

I retired the truck from the road work in 2004, but I still drive it every day!
1,124,891 miles and counting.

Assuming it was on the road 5 days a week , that's 334 miles per day, It is very possible , and very cool to have that many miles on it. I'm just curious what you do with it to put that many miles on...
That's 4 hours per day at 60 miles per hour EVERY SINGLE DAY - 7 days a week 365 days a year for 12 years.

Assuming that you drove it 5 days a week.
You would have to drive 392 miles per day, 5 days a week until 2004.
That is 6.5 hours per day at 60 mph.

148k and im still using the "break in" procedure....LOL Actually there are quite a few 300k+ trucks on the road with no probs, and if you found a truck with much better than 500k, id be willing to bet it was worked hard, since not too many people put 50,000+ per year just farting around.

I guess that means that I won't have to worry about my truck for a little while as I only have 20,822 miles on my truck at this time

I averaged 800 - 1000 miles per 24 hr when I was on the road. When you get paid by the mile, you tend to make the most of it. A normal year was 120,000 - 140,000 miles. I tried not to work more than 4 - 5 days per week. Had to save some time for fishing!!

If you look at my profile pic's, you'll see a pic of the odometer rolling over to all zeros (1,000,000 miles), on I-70, Colorado in early 2003. A photo moment.

Boomer, that's astounding. What in the heck were you pulling all of those miles?

Makes my 291K seem kinda puny!

I live in the heart of RV Mfg country. RV's, Park Model's and Horse trl's. Most were 30' - 44' in length and pretty heavy.

Secrets to Longevity

1. If it's an Automatic - toggle switch the OD, bypass the TPS - (No OD below 45 mph)
2. Trl Lights & Brakes - forget the factory wiring and fuses, (wire direct w/circut breakers).
3. Synthetic lube in Diff. (95/140)
4. Leave the Cummins stock if your gonna work it, (too much torque breaks things).
5. Change oil regularly (6,000 - 10,000 miles) and don't forget about the air filter!
6. No jack rabbit starts when loaded, (this breaks things also).
7. Get a set of "real" gauges - pyro, boost, trans temp and engine temp.
(get off the fuel if - pyro over 1000, auto trans or engine over 210)

My mistake - 95W-140 lubes went by the wayside. The multi-viscosity "synthetics" have all gone to 75W - 85W/140. Amsoil being the most popular.
A few are - AMSOIL Long Life Synthetic 80W-140 Gear Lube
Neo Synthetic Gear Oil 80W - 140 EP GL - 5
Valvoline HD 85W-140 Synthetic

I can't tell you off the top of my head the name of the brand that I use, I buy it in bulk from a big truck garage where I get my "little" truck serviced. I'll ask next time I'm there. It's the same lube they use in their big truck diff's.
