How high do stock engines rev up too?

Hello, how high do these engines rev when completly stock? Probly a dumb question but I was playin around tryin to get a tach to work and was'nt sure what kinda rpms I should see.

2,500rpm-2,700rpm.

Thanks, I was thinkin around 2700rpm was rite.

i had mine on the dyno/e-tester at work and it spun to 2838 bone stock,

Some years ago I was pulling an overloaded 35' 5th wheel trailer thru some BC mountains, and on one particularly steep descent I my brakes started fading badly. I was running away in 3rd gear and had to do a screaming double-clutch into 2nd. Good think I caught the lower gear as otherwise I'd be part of a scrap heap WAY down in the bush. For the rest of the decline I let the engine wind up to 3000 rpm, then brake hard down to about 1500 rpm, then let the brakes cool as the engine revved back up. I took the ferry to come back !!
