Holset turbo houseing size?

My brother-in-law has a 1st gen 12 valve that he's finally got around to pulling apart. He was trying to find out if the previous owner changed the turbo housing on it to a smaller unit, but, hasn't had any luck yet. All I got to go on is the # cast into the housing. So, does anyone know what size turbo housing is a Holset 3533139? Thanks for the help!

Look on the side of the housing that faces the firewall. Should be cast in there.

are you looking for the size of the exhaust housing??? if so it should be stamped on the underside of the housing. if it is still on the truck you have use a mirror to see it easily or be a contortionist.

It's not attached to the engine anymore. Actually, all he has is the engine(he wants to put it in an old chevy dually he has moth-balled for a future build). He was holding the housing when he was talking to me and gave the # that's cast into it. He said it says, Holset 3533139. He said it even has a "new" wastegate on it since there's no rust on that part and clean. The wastegates # is 3536211 off the sticker still on the wastegate. Anyways, I think he said the Holset # was on the firewall side, but, I could be wrong. He did tell me there are other #'s all over it, but, they are illegible...poorly cast, and not as many digits. Also, he mentioned there is one under it that is stamped in red ink and is only 4 digits long, but, not easily made out. I tried to search for the # and haven't found any info. I'll see if he can get me more #'s off it and their location on the housing.

It's not the stock turbo, the stockers were not wastegated. Look inside the inlet ports on the turbine housing, that's where it's cast in those.

Wannadiesel, let me get this right, the size of the turbo housing is cast into the inlet ports or is there some other ID number in there? I'm guessing it's the size, but, just wanted to make sure. That's good to know the 1st gen wasn't wastegated. I didn't know that since my only experience is with my 2nd gen 12v p-pump, and, I'd be willing to bet that my brother-in-law didn't know that either. I'm now real curious what size it is and if it's the size he was planning on using when gets this truck together. I'll let you know what size it is when he finds out. Thanks for the help!

The wastegated housings have the numbers cast into the inlet ports of the turbine housing. Non-gated housings have it cast into the backside of the housing.

My guess is he's got an HX-35 off a 2nd gen on there, it will work well especially if it's a 5 speed truck.
