high pitched squeak in 4wd
I put the truck in 4wd the other day after rebuilding the front end just to make sure everything was working properly. The 4wd engaged and was working well, but I was hearing a high pitched squeaking noise that increased as I sped up. It wasnt a constant sound but a chirping that got faster and faster. I noticed it on occasion a few months back and assumed that it was my front axle u-joints which I knew needed to be replaced. I replaced them when I redid the front end and still hear the sound. I am guessing maybe front driveshaft u-joints or could it be something with the transfer case. I dont notice any slop in the u joints and it is kind of hard to isolate the sound when driving. Any suggestions?
