Help! shut down lever

I am a member of the pull cable crew and have gutted my shut off solenoid. I was hooking up my pull cable and decided to take the spring off to make it stay closed. I put the little lever back on and it shuts off but will only make about 20 pounds of boost fully open. The lever is moving back and fourth all the way too. What could make this happen? thanks.

Any chance you might have damaged the metal line for the AFC that comes from the side of the manifold?

I sounds like you put the lever a notch or 2 off when you put it back on, you are effectively limiting the governor internally.

Yeah, either that or cable is just not fully engaging. That was what actually prompted me to remove the spring in the first place. Sometimes I would forget to push the cable back in and it would start and seem to run fine until I tried to give it some fuel. Runs, but not very well when the shutoff lever is half closed.

I am sure it is not a notch or too off. I dont even have the cable connected to it either. It hits the stops internally in the pump before it hits the stoppers on the outside. Could it be possible that the shaft inside is indexed wrong? Im really stumped with this one.

I just don't think you are getting it all the way opened. I had exactly the same symptoms with a binding cable and/or a incorrectly positioned cable. It was kind of a challenge getting that installed so it would work smoothly, engage completely and stay put.

Ok I will try again I guess. I am 100% sure it is swinging foreward all the way. Is it possible to go a little too far and shut of a little fuel?
