Wondering how this turned out for you. I've recently lost 2 mpg like a switch was turned off, but generally mileage is still "good" by your standard.

Bad batch of fuel? Or has it been for several tanks?

Plugged return line?

My dad R.I.P who drove trucks for 30 years used to tell me about drivers who would put vise grips on the return line to give the engine more power and speed. He said it was bad for the engine because it would wash the oil off the cylinder walls. I assume the mileage would be crap also. Have you checked it for possible debris getting in and plugging things up during the pump change?

@oliver - If asking me about bad gas, it's been at least a dozen fill-ups in L.A., Phoenix and Tucson generally along the I-10 corridor. I started a thread about an elevated operating temp issue and perhaps when that is fixed mileage will return?

MPG up date
Been to 3 different mech. they all say the truck runs great & I agree, but where did I lose my MPGs. My daily driver, work truck a 93 Dodge cummins D250 get 18 to 20 & its loaded with tools, but its still stock, with 255,000 miles on it. I'm up to 111,598 mile on the 92 W250 and still the same 12 MPG . Do any of the advertised mods REALLY improve MPGs?

If THAT was the problem, I'd have to quietly walk away and hope nobody ever brought it up again.

How does the truck drive,?
Failing torque converter could be loading your engine and cause poor mileage.

Edwin,
Drivers used to reach through the saucer sized fuel cap and screw a radiator petcock on the inside of the fuel return to raise the fuel pressure.

And overheat the pump.

Odometer has been checked and is right on. Trans was checked by 2 shops and not the problem. The truck drives good, not a rocket but thats OK I wanted the MPGs that were lost right after I took it in for injector pump rebuild.
Still searching for my MPGs. 12 MPG SUCKS

My truck went from 18mpg to 14 when I did a dually conversion and added a visor,

I was hopping my trans just got really loose around that time, but I have done a very good rebuild with a lower stall goerend converter, and still no better.

My injectors may also need a cleaning and pop test.

the funny thing is my truck gets 13 pulling a 7,500lb camper, and I am OK with that.

Take the intercooler off, get a 5 speed, and install a 3.07. Works for me.
