HELP!! Clutch master cylinder mounting
what in the name of god holds the master cylinder itself to the firewall? looking in my FSM, i see a bracket that i dont have, but i can make brackets. i do not see how the master itself is held to the firewall...what keeps it from being pushed into the engine compartment when you push the clutch pedal?
i picture would be great as well, if anyone is so inclined.
I was really hoping i'd get to drive the truck today, but once again....not gonna happen...beginning to get frustrated. it is tough not haing anything to look at to compare, and the FSM is not showing me enough
BTW, i am in the final steps of the automatic to getrag swap...this is the only thing holding me up

Taht was the last thing for me as well. Look at the master cylinder. The mounting surface has tabs, much like putting the bulb holders in our lenses, that you turn to lock it. Pretty much have to cut a square hole in your homemade bracket to get it to lock. I did this, then drove a screw in right next to it to secure it. Ill be pulling mine tomorrow to modify it (put it in the wrong spot and my knee hits me in the nose to shift right now lol). Ill get a pic of mine tomorrow.

if you could lay a ruler next to it in a couple spots so i have a bisic idea of locations that would be great too
what keeps it from turning so that i does not "fall out" of the bracket??
What you need is a slave cylinder bracket. I bet money the holes are drilled for it on all auto diesel trucks inside the cab under the dash. On my 85 crew it was not drilled, I welded the bracket to the underside of the dash/cab etc. It looks like the 2" rubber gromet (on auto trucks) is there for in the case of a 5 speed truck down the assembly line. That looks like where the slave will/should slide in. Directly behind the bracket would bolt to the cab/dash support. Get under there and shine a light up there, look for 4 bolt holes.
the hole in the firewall is there, there are bolt holes also...in a triangular pattern. it's that the grommetted hole in the firewall is way to big to hold the master cyl. i see in the fsm that there is a seperate bracket that holds the MC, but was/am not clear on what actually holds the MC/how it mounts.
Sorry but spring hit so I spent all day fishing and didnt work on my truck so I dont have any pics for ya....do a search for manual swaps and theres a picture by 1stgen545 of the bracket needed.

Here you go. You can see in the right pic there is a small hole at the bottom left of the bracker that you put a crew in from under the dash that locks the MC from turning. Brett you ever gona get your lift pump. Give me a call and I can meet you some were or some thing.
545, thanks for the pic....found out today that the bracket is still available from dodge....for a whole $13....got one coming at end of the week. i was also able to get some other misc clips/pedal bushings etc. I almost fell over when the guy in parts told me he could get every part shown on the parts book's clutch system page. I can get part numbers up for anyone interested in the bracket
