Hello All 1991 W250 Cummins
Hello all, New Gen 1 owner here, First off, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I have 1991 W250 LE 5.9 Cummins, with an automatic transmission I purchased a few days ago. already have a few issues taken care of. As of rigt now the only things that do not operate correctly are the speedometer (odometer works), cruise control, and the overdrive. Ive read a few post and started tracking down the issue which i believe are all connected. Replaced the the VSS which did not correct the problems. Im wandering if anyone had experienced the same and where they started. Could the problem be related to the fuseable links?
Regards,
Eric

Hi Eric
Welcome to DTR.
THE 91.5 IS a bit of a different animal than my 92, as so I've read a bazillion times over the years , here, on the boards.
My truck had the same issues you have, and yes, in my case, it was one of the fusable links. Not sure with yours. I'm sure J. or Alec or one of the other proficient electrical guys can help. Have you tried switching the relays around as in the Sticky? The group of 3 relays on the engine firewall behind the battery, in front of the hinge driver side . one of the relays controls the functions you're not getting. Again, 91.5 might be different, so I'm just throwing that out there. My 92 had the fusable link burn through without visual change. I only found it by testing continuity, after testing / swapping relays first. I temporarily spliced it together, but eventually replaced all fusable links with fuses
Thanks for spelling Cummins and not Cummings. Pretty sure she is an adult film star.

I had a '91.5 D-150 gasser which had a working odometer but no speedo.
I pulled the gauge and tested it by pulsing it with 12 volts. Nothing.
Once the electronic speedometer in my '93 finally craps out, I plan to just swap in a cable-driven unit that I have from out of an '86 RC.
Which part of this Great Republic of Texas is home to you?

Roger that. I'm just a short stretch down I-35 from you here in Williamson County.
Glad to have you aboard.
