Headlight switch question
Headlight switch question
I started to get a burning wire smell the other night. Headlights flickered a couple of times. 1/2 my dash pod lights aare burn't out and the sockets blacken. I'm thinking the sockets might be bad, or maybe the pod itself, causing the headlight switch to heat up, it got real hot to the touch.
Anyone experiece this before?

Rich, the headlight switches are one of the famous 'weak links" on our trucks.. it is common for them to go bad and not unheard of for them to catch fire.
They simply arent able to handle the amperage load that goes through them.
installing relays on teh lights can take some of the load off them, and can save you from a close and personal relationship with teh local fire dept.
A new headlight switch can be picked up at O'Reilly's or Napa and will set ya back around $17.
