Headlight switch

My headlight switch cratered the other day so I went to change it out and the harness had been melted in the past and was not making good connection. Couldn't get any lights to work. So I cut the connector off and used spade connectors to hook the wires back up to the switch. Every thing work, kind of. My head lights flicker. Kind of thinking maybe a bad ground. Any other things I might check tomorrow?

Could be a loose connection at the dimmer switch as well, or a failing dimmer switch.

I swapped my head light out for LED's a couple of years ago so the relays should be unnecessary. I suspect that the melted harness is from the previous lights that were on it. Kind of thinking the ground is bad but I couldn't find it in the dark. So if any one could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

Even though you converted to LED's did you upgrade the grounds to the headlamps, they are at the core support, factory ground is a 20-gauge wire.

They could be toast from all of the years with the incandescent lamps.

When I do convert to LED's I will design a new relay set to supply full current to the lamp modules to allow them to flash.

So this morning I had a few minutes so I ran a wire from the ground on the back of the head light hoping that might solve my problem but it didn't. I then ran a fused wire from the battery to the low beam terminal on the head light and the flickering quit. So I'm thinking that my problem is maybe not a ground.

Might want to double check your spade connections to the new headlight switch. Did you solder the spade connectors to the wires? If the lights were not flickering before the switch went bad I'd look there for the problem. Good luck.
