headlight problems

When I run my headlights they will randomly cut out. They will all of sudden start to turn off and on and flicker uncontrollably. The running lights stay on, so I am at a loss as to what is happening. I was thninking maybe the light switch, but with the running lights staying on I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated, as driving at night has me worried because I never know when my lights will all of a sudden cut out.

From what I 've found out the stock head light circut cannot handle anything more than the "Stock" head lights. If you go bigger with HID's or after market lights... even with fog lights the circut will cut out. There are two reasons for this.

1) The gauge wired used is not big enough to handle the output.

2) The headlight circut gets hot that it eventually kicks off until it can cool down.

The fix?

Simple put some relays on the head lights, there is a article here how to do this in the sticky's. I havn't done this yet but I'm hoping to, I think for the winter I'll just ditch the 65W HID's I have and run the old walmart brand at a lower watt.

I guess I will try out some different headlights. I did buy two new ones before the problem had started, and maybe I bought some with too high of watts. Thanks for the info, I have already been looking at that relay sticky, but I am just not real comfortable with doing electrical work. Thanks again, and any more info would be appreciated

Relays are easy to do. Don't worry about it and take it one wire at a time.
That will let you keep the better quality lights you have and not burn out your switch.
