Headlight HELP!

the other night I was driving along and all of a sudden my lights went out. I figured out that if you hold the high beams on at the colum, it will get you home. I think that the headlight switch on the panel is bad, and was wondering if it was possible to use toggle switches if at all possible instead of replacing the switch. If so, could someone tell me which wires to use and which ones to connect to where.

Thanks!
Wheelo

The headlight switch has a thermal circuit breaker inside the housing and can open the circuit and black out your headlamps at any time.

You might have a short in the headlamp circuit or the switch might have just failed.

It is better to replace the headlamp switch and then install relays to take the load off the switch and it should last the remaining life of the truck.

The same thing happened to me in January. I just replaced the switch, and the lights have been working fine ever since.

Read the sticky,

Replace the head light switch.

CK for burnt or damages wires.

If your not a master electrician like Jim, painless makes a wire harness with relays, weatherpacks, circut breakers for a chevy which works fine on our trucks. I have the p/n if needed somewhere.
