Found a set of new take offs locally and they are priced right and was wondering if anyone has tried this.

3rd gen wheels and 4th gen wheels are quite similar, you'll need 1.5" or 2" wheel spacers to get them on, as they have quite the negative offset.

 

My 3rd-gen 17x7.5" wheels have 6" backspace.

I'm going to run them up front with 2" spacers.... same spacer will get used if/when I get H1 beadlocks. I'm going to run the wider 2nd-gen Dana 80 to fix the rear... haven't decided if I want SRW or DRW yet.

 

You'll also need to buy new nuts to run the Center caps if you decide to do that

 

I have a set of '13 2500 take offs on Moonshine.
They required 2 inch wheel spacers to get them to fit / look good.
There are a few pictures of them installed on the thread called "my daily-driver ramcharger build"

 

I didn't realize the wheels on Moonshine were off a Dodge!
The set I was looking at are the aluminum version and the tires have 15 miles on them.

Ive been looking into the 3rd gen a bit but didn't know the 3rd and 4th are similar. My plan with the 3rd gen wheels was to run spacers in front and swap a disk brake 80 into the rear which would cure the track width problem caused by the excessive backspacing and also would cure the sorry excuse for rear brakes these trucks have.

 

I like this plan.
It would be easy to get rid of the rear wheel spacers by running a Dana 80, to even a Dually C.C. Dana 80 that would be even a little wider still.
