GV unit without control module?

Anyone know if you can run a gear vendors without the control module on a standard trans? Found one for about half price of new but no control box.

Volvo never did all the used was a switch on 4th so you only could turn it on in 4th. If you look at the OD's on the back of the late 140's and the 240's they sure look the same as what GV sells Ken

All the control module does is read the speed and turn the unit off automatically. You can just use a switch to activate the 12 volt solenoid on the unit to engage or disengage. It really isn't a big deal. Most of the time even with the box you are turning on and off manually. The box just does it for you so you won't try to start up with it engaged, which will shift it when over 25mph.
