i am shooting for a summer or fall start. i've got a used drive on hoist that i got cheap this winter and i want to pour concrete and install hoist before i think about any major swapping. i think it will happen in phases . first under carriage and steering then motor drive train . then next year i am going to look at that tilt front end and some airbag work. just have to see. by then i am going to be looking at building new home. time and money get short. have to get it road worthy then get my current pu cleaned up to sell.

Talking Congratulations

Glad you got your box, farmer0. Good luck.
I contacted the Forest Service custodian of that '85 crew cab. He's going to check the differential ratios and let me know. I'll post as soon as I hear.

The custodian just called me back. He said both front and rear tags showed Dana 60, 4.10 ratios.

If you get a 91.5-93 donor truck you should be able to drill out the spot welds on the Intercooler mounts and retack them to the older core support. The supports are very similar, with the changes mostly due to headlamp and fender differances.

Cheap Splitters

If anyone runs across a cheap splitter that you don't want for your own truck, PM me will you?
It can be used, bearings worn out or in pieces, as long as nothing major is broken.

What I did was get all the trim pieces from a reular cab (including headliner) then got two headliners from the front of a Ramcharger ( including one seam stip that goes between the front and rear) Install one Ramcharger hadliner in the front of the cab then place the seam strip . Then temporarily install the regular cab liner in the rear ( break down the rounded corners) now place the remaining front liner in the seam strip (backwards) match up the two liners reg and ram). Remove and re-aligne on bench. Cut through both liners so you have one matched cut. Useing fiberglass mat and resin cover the back side of the liners to bind them together. After dried flip over and recover to match int color ( large chain fabric stores -ie.. JoAnn's Fabric here in the NE- should have the correct foam backed material)
Install using factory trim and make filler for over rear doors (yet to be done)Sounds harder then it was but looks some-what factory.
Helped greatly with the noise-Pic's to follow
