gremlins

I finally got around to swapping the starter out in my 92. Instead of unhooking the wires at the starter I just unhooked them at the battery positive terminal and drug them out with the starter. After I transfered them to the new starter I just fished them back through and reconnected everything. Now I don't have any electrical power in the truck. No headlights, map light, radio, starting, etc. I know it's got to be a ground, but where should I start? Also, there was a plastic hose in between the oil pan and the starter that came out when I took out the old starter, it wasn't even connected. I can see that it goes to some sort of breather or overflow just up and right of the lift pump. What is it and do I need it? It's hard plastic so could it be replaced with softer heater hose or fuel hose that would be more bendable?

For the power issue i am thinking fusible links. And the tube is the breather tube for the engine for blowby.

About 2 weeks ago I tried to jump start it with the bad starter still in place and it at least clicked a few times. I guess I'll start gremlin hunting tomorrow.

I you transferred the positive battery cable from the starter to the battery, did you reconnect the smaller wires and the heavy charge wire from the alternator?

I haven’t had my factory cable in mine for a long time but I think it was connected to it.

Without power for the ignition circuit, nothing will work.

Everything that I saw that was hooked up to the positive terminal beforehand I hooked up afterwards. The only other thing I can think of is I must have missed a wire somewhere.

It lives again! It was all my fault. When I popped the hood this morning I saw a wire hanging under the battery tray. As soon as I connected it to the positive terminal I got power. Jump starting it I was not able to get enough power from my F150s battery to start the cummins. I went and bought me a new battery and she fired right up. That was not a cheap adventure, but it at least runs now. Since we are a family of 4 now I need a family vehicle to drive til my crew cab project is ready for a donor engine/transmission. The cummins will be getting fixed up and driven alot more now. Thanks for the help.
