A good partner for an S300 62/65/12? (compound turbos)

Hi guys,

I was kicking around the idea of going to compounds someday. I have an S300 62/65/12 on the way that will be the turbo for my single setup, until (if) I go to 2 turbos. What big turbo would complement it well?

Shooting for 450 whp (with twins)

Where's a good place to buy just the manifold and piping required?

I didn't search too much, kind of looked at the HT3B, but was wondering if there are other choices available.

TIA.

As long as your exhaust manifold isn't shrunk beyond use, keep it and just port match it and flip it over. There isn't going to be anything bolt up, it's all custom fabbed. Get your schedule 40 iron pipe for the hotpipe at a local plumbing shop or the like. Same goes for the exhaust tubing for the cold pipe and intercooler piping, or get it from an exhaust shop. If you can't cut, weld and fabricate, it's gonna be tough or very expensive to build twins.

Oh and an s400 or ht3b should pair well.

IMO anything under a 62/65 is going to be under driven and you're not going to like the results. IMO, if you want twins your going to be better off with a 35 over a smaller bottom turbo. Maybe and hx60 which is a newer ht3b. I think you're going to be better off and happier in the long run with a single turbo. A 62/65/14 should more then support the 450 RWHP your after. I've run a few differant sets of twins. They're fun to begin with but after a while there's a lot to be said for the simplesity of a single.

hmmm... well I was also thinking of using my HE351 with an HT3B or HX60.

The manifold shrinks after years of heating and cooling cycles. sometimes the far ends (the "ears") of it will break off.

Use the he351. Its capable in a twin setup of making more power then the ve can make. Save your money in my opinion.

So, you say do the 351 as the small turbo and the 62/65/12 as the big turbo?

I know the HE351 does great up to about 35 psi, then the HT3B would start to come into its map for 35+?

I could always sell the S300, cause I've tried to buy used ones before..
