Happy new year gang!

Well, I went to inspect the truck. I spent over and hour and a half under and over it.

It is in very rough shape. If I would have bought it, it would be a rolling parts truck.

It will need:
4-shocks.
Complete brakes lines.
Cut drums and rotors.
Shoes and pads.
Cylinders.
Rotor shields.
E. brake.
Floor pan on drivers's side.
Clutch (pedal is real high.)
Oil pan has been repaired with JB Weld.

Rear bed is garbage.
Rust through on both fenders.
Headliner is sagging (what a shock.)
Rust holes on the plow blade.
Rust on the truck frame but not too insane.

Drives pretty good.
Motor sounds good.

I passed on $3,500.00

If I had a heated garage, I would have bought it for $3-k and put $2-k into it in order to get it safe. I don't feel like laying on a cold driveway in the middle of the winter to do all the work it needs!

Oh well, I'll just wait for the next one to show up.

Lets hope 2012 will be better.

Stay safe and healthy.

Doc

They're out there...

Just keep your eyes peeled, and your ears free of potato salad.

It may just find you.

Wise choice on the pass I think. Remember, and thats everything you can see in a 90 minute inspection. There will be more. It is a good thing you went and saw it though. You would have been kicking yourself had you not I think.

The dump/plow is a 93 with 80-something-k on it and a new clutch and rear.

It is in way better shape than the load I just looked at. I looked at it and drove it in September. The only problem with it is that it has roof rot in the outer shell causing a little water to enter the truck after the rain channel above the windshield.

I'm just on the fence spending $7,500 for it. Most say it is worth it and I would agree. If I NEEDED a dump truck for my business, I would have bought it in a New York minute.

I just can't justify the expense for my limited usage of this truck at this point. Also, it will be stored outdoors untill the new garage is built.

I do seem to keep going back to it though.....

I had a relatick looking for me out west. Found the rig I desired in Spokane, inspected it for me, and put a retainer on it. I hopped on the train and went to get it. Gave the relatick a few hundred plus expenses for his friendliness.

I figure I got what I would have paid 15k or more for here for 7.5k. Pretty trip both on the train and the drive home. If I was in a hurry, I could have flown for a few bucks more. Took the missus and made a mini-vacation out of it.

93 truck was so rust free I took it to Ziebart and had them do their thing. It should last another 10 years in the MN salt mine.

BTW, I paid 7500 for a D350, 5th wheel hitch, and 25' camper trailer, all ready to roll more or less. It needed a few minor fixes for roadworthiness, like spring shackles on the trailer, and repairing the mechanic's damage to rear bearings and seals from a "brake job".

We plan to. This was on the way home.

The point is, they're out there. Be patient but persistent.

I thought the same. I think it's a cute way of saying a parasitic relative. Must be something learned in grad school...Mark

What do you want for cheap? Actually, a 2x4 is what I need for the application. Mostly over the road, lots of miles. Better mileage, better handling, less maintenance.
