getrag question

did the getrag 360 only come in the dodge trucks with a cummins? im trying to locate a donor truck trying to figure out my options. thanks
kinda of funny but i have always had manual transmissions untill this truck which i specifically went with the auto for the "just floor it effect" but this thing is a slush box. i can watch my egts climb and nothing happen
im not completly convinced about my swap im just afraid that it will cost a small fortune to upgrade the auto.
any thoughts on this??

The G360 is a 1st gen dodge/cummins only unit as far as I know. Getrag makes other models for other vhicles, but nothing as stout as the g360.

Thats correct. I think getrag actually used to make corvette trannys in the '80's......

i have found a getrag for 400$ shipped with bell housing and flywheel. he said first to second was funky but other then that was great. do you think this is a good deal? other question is he wants a money order sent to him. is their any way to protect myself from him just taking my money?
i think i have everything i need except hydraulics and transfer.
looks like im going 5-speed!!

$400 isn't bad. Unless it's someone you can trust I would be leary of dealing with them. Generally if you purchase a Postal money order at the Post Office it can be tracked to where when and who cashed it. Beyond that I don't know what else you can do if you got hosed.

I suggest holding off for a donor truck or someone parting out a 5 speed 4x4 truck. If you don't have the Getrag transfer case, forget about it. Plus keep in mind the price of a synchro and bearing rebuild kit on top of the $400, about $220+-. Off the bat if it's got an issue, I wouldn't even think about putting it in my truck without a teardown and rebuild.

Then again for the sellers sake, if he's paying shipping then I hope he lives close to you. A getrag and flywheel won't be cheap to ship.
